The 34th National Medicinal Chemistry Symposium (NMCS) is May 18-21 in Charleston, hosted by Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and GlaxoSmithKline. Patrick Woster, SmartState endowed chair and professor of drug discovery and biomedical sciences at the South Carolina College of Pharmacy, serves as program chair with Don Hertzog from GlaxoSmithKline. Held every two years since 1948, the NMCS is the premiere symposium in medicinal chemistry and attracts preeminent scientists from all over the world. Charleston Mayor Joseph Riley, Jr. issued a proclamation naming May 18-23 ACS Division of Medicinal Chemistry Week in honor of the city's first time hosting the international conference.
