1. Where is the South Carolina College of Pharmacy located?
The South Carolina College of Pharmacy is in a unique position as it has the advantages of two premiere campuses: the University of South Carolina, located in Columbia, and the Medical University of South Carolina, located in Charleston. Each campus has its own personality, advantages and opportunities for our students, faculty and staff. While the SCCP is one college, each site has a Campus Dean, along with Associate and Assistant Deans to provide resources and guidance for students.

While it is not necessary to complete all pre-pharmacy coursework prior to applying, all pre-pharmacy courses must be completed prior to starting SCCP classes.

4. How do I determine which courses will meet the prerequisite requirements and transfer credit for the South Carolina College of Pharmacy?

5. How does a student apply to the South Carolina College of Pharmacy?
Applications must be submitted electronically through the Application Portal (http://www.sccp.sc.edu/students/admissions.aspx). The application is available starting July 1st and the completion deadline of 5 p.m. December 20th.
6. What criteria does the admissions committee consider when choosing candidates for admission to the South Carolina College of Pharmacy?
Admission to the South Carolina College of Pharmacy is competitive and is based on the applicant’s completion of pre-pharmacy requirements, GPA, academic record, letters of recommendation, interview evaluations, PCAT scores, honors/awards, extracurricular activities, work experience, and student personal statement concerning their goals for a career in pharmacy.
7. What is the PCAT and are students required to take the exam before applying?
PCAT stands for the Pharmacy College Admission Test. Applicants must take the PCAT and have official scores reported prior to the end of the application period, on or before December 20th. The PCAT is offered four times yearly in June, August, October, and January. More information on the PCAT can be found at: www.PCATweb.info.
8. What is the average GPA and PCAT score for SCCP admitted students?
Recent applicants accepted to the program have an average GPA of 3.6-3.7 and an average composite PCAT score of 70th percentile rank.
