Chapter Starts Anew, Honored for Efforts

(27 November 2013) Phi Delta Chi didn't take long to make its mark at the University of South Carolina (USC).

Led by second year pharmacy student Sarah Kim, the fraternity chapter recently was awarded second place in the St. Jude Give Thanks Walk after raising more than $2,500 for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The Phi Delta Chi chapter is new this year to the USC campus of the South Carolina College of Pharmacy (SCCP).

Schnellmann Research Nets R01 Renewal, STTR Grant

Rick Schnellmann was issued a renewal of his R01 grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the study “Mitochondrial Biogenesis Promotes Recovery from Oxidant Injury” and also was awarded a Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant for “Urinary Biomarkers of Renal Mitochondrial Dysfunction.” STTR grants require partnership between small business concern and a research institution and award research that has the potential for commercialization.
