IHI Chapter Established on USC Campus

(1 March 2010)

Clinical Pharmacy and Outcomes Science faculty member Betsy Blake has collaborated with South Carolina Hospital Association and other faculty members to establish an Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Open School chapter on the USC campus. Students from pharmacy, medicine, public health and physical therapy are now participating. The first meeting in January was so successful the national IHI leadership cite it as an example of the successful integration of a mentor hospital and an Open School Chapter. The second meeting was February 24 at Palmetto Health Baptist and the upcoming meeting will be Thursday, March 18 at the third Annual Patient Safety Symposium with all South Carolina Open School chapters. Betsy also recently passed her Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist recertification exam.
