The Stephen H. Ashcraft Pharmacy Fellowship (1984) provides resources for students in our graduate program.
The Jeffrey L. Bradham Memorial Scholarship was established in 1984. Recipients must have completed their third year in the College of Pharmacy and have a cumulative GPA equal to or greater than 3.315. The Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of merit only.

The Martin M. Broadway Scholarship was established in 1985 in memory of Mr. Broadway. Recipients of the Martin M. Broadway must have completed high school in South Carolina, and have a 2.00 GPA or higher with no academic deficiencies. The student must demonstrate financial need.
The purpose of the College of Pharmacy Scholarship Fund is to provide support for a scholarship at the South Carolina College of Pharmacy, University of South Carolina campus.
The College of Pharmacy Carolina Fund is an Unrestricted fund utilized at the discretion of the Dean. This Fund provides the campus dean opportunities to fund special requests by faculty, scholarships, travel for students and faculty to educational and professional conference and conventions, and funds for general operations of the USC campus.
The Louis Delwin King Scholarship, established in 1985, is awarded by the College of Pharmacy Scholarship Committee to a student who plans a career in Pharmacy with the preference given to a graduate of Walhalla High School or a resident of Oconee County. The scholarship is awarded based on academic excellence, with financial need as a secondary consideration.
Established in honor of our former Dean in 1996, the Robert W. Morrison Pharmacy Scholarship fund is to support scholarships and graduate fellowships for student(s) in the college of Pharmacy.
The Lois W. Nichols Scholarship provides scholarships for worthy students enrolled in the College of Pharmacy.
The V. F. Platt Scholarship was established in 1975 to provide scholarships for worthy students enrolled in the College of Pharmacy.
The James M. Plaxco, Jr. Graduate Fellow in Pharmaceutics was established in 1992.
The Plough Pharmacy Student Scholarship was established through a Challenge grant from Abe Plough in 1982. Mr. Plough received his formal education at St. Paul Street Grammar School, from which he graduated. After school and on weekends he worked at the George V. Francis drug store without pay because he wanted to learn the drug business, determined that it would be his future. At age sixteen Abe Plough was owner, manager, and only employee of the Plough Chemical Company. Adding aspirin to his line of products in 1920, Plough bought the St. Joseph Company, a step he called his "first on the road to the big time."
The business reported net sales of $254.5 million by 1954, a figure that doubled by 1962. It merged in 1971 with Schering Corporation, primarily a manufacturer of prescription pharmaceuticals. Plough was Chairman of both Plough, Incorporated, and Schering-Plough.
Plough retired from business in 1976 to devote his talents and energies to his other chief interest, philanthropy. Mr. Plough’s Challenge Grant to the University of South Carolina resulted in a current Fund of $1.3 million which many of our alumni helped become reality and it will provide, in perpetuity, Plough Scholarships.
The J M Smith Corporation Scholarship is awarded to a worthy student who either has a legacy of independent pharmacy ownership, or who has indicated they are interested in owning an independent pharmacy. J M Smith established this fund in 1992 and supports the College on many fronts.
Awarded annually to a third year pharmacy student, the Tony M. Walker Scholarship looks for students who are interested in pursuing a community pharmacy practice. The recipient is generally a Pharmacy student leader. Mr. Walker’s fund was established in 1992.
The T. D. and Nell D. Williams Scholarship (1992) is used for scholarship or graduate fellowship support for students in the College of Pharmacy.
The Charles R. Yandell Scholarship is used to provide a Pharm.D. Scholarship or graduate fellowship to a Ph.D. student in the college of Pharmacy. Mr. Yandell, a 1943 alumnus of the USC College of Pharmacy, received the Outstanding Alumnus Award in 19XX, and set up his scholarship is 1992.
The Myrtle E. Mackey Scholarship is used for scholarship or graduate fellowship support. It was established in 1992.
The Leonard Browder Fellowship Fund is used for scholarship or graduate fellowship or scholarship support for students in the College of Pharmacy. The Browders established their fund in 1992.
The Dan F. McCormick Scholarship recipient must demonstrate financial need, be active in the Baptist Student Union and have a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
Funds from the Herman W. Watson Sr. Scholarship are used for scholarship or graduate fellowship support.
The Patty Workman Sizemore Memorial Scholarship fund was established in 1993 and awards scholarship support for a pharmacy student in their second professional year who has a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
The William Wesley Fincher Scholarship (1994) fund is to be used for scholarship and/or graduate fellowship support for students in the College of Pharmacy.
James A. & Dorothy H. Campbell Scholarship Fund established their fund in 1993 for scholastically eligible candidates with high moral character.
Funds from the Alva B. Campbell Scholarship (1993) are used for scholarship support for students in the College of Pharmacy. Student must be a resident of South Carolina.
Peter T. & Mary Milliones established their fund in 1996 to provide scholarships in the College of Pharmacy.
Former Dean Julian H. Fincher and his wife Betty established their Scholarship in 1993 to provide scholarship support for students in the College of Pharmacy. Graduate fellowship recipients are be selected by the Scholarship Committee of the College of Pharmacy.
The Beamer-Raley Graduate Fellowship is endowed and used to award fellowship(s) to worthy graduate students in the Basic Science area.
The Jerry Hook Memorial Scholarship was established in 1997 by alumnus Davis Hook, Jr., his wife and aunt. This fund is used to award scholarship(s) to worthy residents of South Carolina. The scholarship award recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The Daniel Li-Ching Wang Scholarship/ Fellowship fund is used to provide a scholarship to a graduate student with academic achievement and/or financial needs and who will promote diversity within the profession.
Robert E. Padgett Jr. & Mozelle Mathis Padgett established their Scholarship in 1999 to award students with academic achievement and financial needs who is enrolled in the pharmacy program on the campus of the University of South Carolina. Preference will be given to students from South Carolina and Michigan, with students from Kalamazoo County, Michigan given preference over students from other areas of Michigan.
Ares Lambros & Sandra Pittman Artemes Scholarship (2000) established their fund to recognize students who have at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference shall be given to students in the following order: 1) the scholarship will be awarded to a student(s) of Greek origin or who is a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and who has financial needs; 2) the scholarship will be awarded to a student(s) from a rural city/town in North or South Carolina and who has financial needs; and 3) the scholarship will be warded to a student(s) who have financial needs.
The Arthur Poliakoff Memorial Scholarship fund (1999) provides scholarship(s) to students with academic achievement and/or financial needs. Preference will be given to a student(s) from Abbeville, South Carolina.
The Scott Benjamin Sherr Memorial Scholarship was established in 1999 and provides scholarship(s) to students with academic achievement and/or financial needs.
Marvin A. & Lois J. Hyatt are dedicated to the College of Pharmacy and the University of South Carolina. Their Scholarship fund is used to provide scholarship(s) to student(s) with academic achievement and/or financial needs. Preference will be given to residents of South Carolina. The fund was set up in 1999.
George A. Sample Sr. established his scholarship in 1999 for the purpose of providing a scholarship in the University of South Carolina for pharmacy students enrolled at the University of South Carolina.
In 2000, the Diane Powers Owen Memorial Scholarship was established to provide a deserving student with financial needs and/or academic achievement. Preference is given to residents of the state of South Carolina.
Jack G. Watts, Sr., a 1955 graduate of the USC College of Pharmacy, set up his scholarship in 1993 to provide scholarships for pharmacy students. Mr. Watts has been president of USC College of Pharmacy Alumni Society since its inception in 1957.
Horace M. Kaiser was a co-owner of Hawthorne Pharmacy in Columbia. Mr. Kaiser established his fund in 2001 to provide support for a scholarship(s) in the College of Pharmacy. Preference shall be given to residents of South Carolina.
Ellis M. and Ann W. Fincher Scholarship/ Fellowship has provided scholarship or graduate fellowship support for students in the College of Pharmacy since 1992.
Known as Dr. Jim, the James W. McCallum Scholarship/ Fellowship was established in 1992 for scholarship or graduate fellowship support for students in the College of Pharmacy. Preference for a resident of Anderson County. Mr. McCallum’s son and son-in-law are practicing pharmacists in Anderson. Mr. McCallum also provided resources for the Student Government Association office in honor of his wife, Avice.
The purpose of the William B. Catoe, Jr. Memorial Scholarship fund is to provide support for a scholarship for the College of Pharmacy. The fund was established in 2000.
Herbert B. & Emily M. Fincher Scholarship established their fund in 1992 to provide support for a scholarship(s) in the South Carolina College of Pharmacy, Columbia campus.
Income from the Clinton H. Worrell Scholarship fund (1993) is for scholarship support for students in the College of Pharmacy.
J. Stephen & Janis C. Patton Bicentennial Scholarship established their fund during USC’s Bicentennial Capital Campaign in 2001. The purpose of this fund is to provide support for a scholarship(s) in the College of Pharmacy. Preference shall be given to individuals from South Carolina who are interested in pursuing a career in independent pharmacy.
The purpose of the NACDS Scholarship Fund is to provide support for a Scholarship in the College of Pharmacy. Leadership skills demonstrated through student involvement and interest in community pharmacy practice.
Associate Dean L. Clifton Fuhrman established his fund in 2003 to provide support for a scholarship for College of Pharmacy students enrolled on the USC Campus.
Julian A. Reynolds Jr. is an independent pharmacist in Andrews, South Carolina. During the Bicentennial Campaign, Mr. & Mrs. Reynolds established their scholarship to provide support for a scholarship(s) for students with a preference that they are a resident of Andrews, SC; Georgetown County, SC; Williamsburg, SC; or of the state of South Carolina.
The Charles M. Campbell Scholarship was established in 2001 with the purpose of funding scholarships for the College of Pharmacy.
In 1999, the John B. Singleton Memorial Scholarship was established to provide support for a scholarship for the College of Pharmacy.
Donald W. Beam set up his Pharmacy Scholarship in 2006. Mr. Beam’s fund is used exclusively for USC student scholarships for students desiring to be retail pharmacists interested in store ownership.
Barry & Charlene Bryant fully understand the importance of a pharmacy education. The Bryants have sent three daughters to USC for pharmacy school, and established their Family Scholarship in 2006. The purpose of their fund is to provide support for a scholarship for the College of Pharmacy.
Former Dean Farid Sadik was presented a scholarship from friends, alumni and staff to award pharmacy students at the USC campus. Dr. Sadik has a preference that the students hail from Lexington, South Carolina.
Alumni from throughout the Southeast come back to the Columbia each spring for the annual USC College of Pharmacy Alumni Golf Classic. During its eight year existence, the Classic has raised funds to set up and endow the USC College of Pharmacy Alumni Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded by the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy Scholarship Committee to a worthy pharmacy student enrolled on the USC campus. |
